Well done Maureen!

In response to the idea of shapes, put out on 03 April, 19 days ago, only Maureen replied and sent work.

She didn't look far for inspiration as you will note below. You don't have to. The mark of an artist is being able to see possibilities in the ordinary or in everyday of objects. It's not necessary to be transported to a great visual location (and don't forgot that we are privileged to be located in a great location for artists under normal circumstances!) to produce an interesting piece of work.

Don't you love those blue and white eggs? The influence takes you straight back to Portugal or Delft and the characteristic porcelain of that city.

Teapot? Most of us have one. This shiny blue pot showed the window shape.

And look at those feathery fronds! Great idea. So simple.

It is a shame in this period when some of us are locked down not just for 2, or 3, or 4 but even 8 weeks, that we can't find the time and energy to take up a brush or pencil. It's not an obligation - of course not - but the rewards of spending time with a pencil and paper are psychological as well as artistically satisfying. We have to nurture our mind as well as our bodies while we're closed in.

Next up will be entries for the annual drawing competition. If you have a last minute entry, please forward it immediately to either Ann or noninichols@gmail.com as I haven't yet uploaded all the work.

Here are Maureen's works:
