Have you looked at paintings in a museum lately?

I've just been to the National Gallery of Art in Washington, and ended up studying this Monet - you may be familiar with it as it us also used on jigsaw puzzles. I've been grappling with another Monet with 1000 pieces - and getting nowhere.

Actually, I haven't set foot in the NG in Washington for some 40 years but I visited it on a virtual tour this morning.

Perhaps you have already read about museums online but if you haven't then you'd perhaps find this interesting.

A number of well known museums are offering the chance to look at collections of art  in Europe and the United States.

It's fun and it's educational. Just think of it: No crowds, no shoving to see better, no selfies in front of a painting, no queues and, best of all, you can sit at home with a cup of tea and gaze at a great picture and draw inspiration.

Here are 10 major museums which offer you the chance to visit virtually. And, there are of course many more.

I was 'in' the Rijksmuseum yesterday looking for something specific for the next blog and had a quick look at a Dégas in the Birmingham Art Gallery. The Tate Britain isn't very online comprehensive (shame on them!) but you can get to see , among other works, some painting by Turner and Constable!
