NEWSLETTER March to June

The above members were again voted in at the recently held AGM and we thank them all for once again working hard to make the Society interesting and informative.  We especially thank Bill Townsend, who due to ill health, has resigned as the keeper of the register and album.  Bill quietly ushered in members and visitors alike to our workshops and evening meetings, but woe betide anyone who skipped signing the register.

Thank you Clive and John for putting together a very interesting and intriguing quiz after the official proceedings.

A big thank you to Alex who has managed so well for the past few years in getting our events into local publications without costing us a cent. She has taken over Bill’s portfolio and that leaves us short of an advertising person.  In the meantime Cindy will handle this job but if any of you have experience in advertising please consider taking up this portfolio which is such an important one.

Past Events:  The paint-out at the Range was very well attended and we were delighted that members of other art groups were able to join us. We hope to be joining forces on many future paint-outs.

Who can forget the wonderful evening we had with Hazel Soan.  She held the large audience absolutely spellbound giving valuable tips and observations while showing photos of some of her wonderful paintings. Hazel is passionate about her art and her enthusiasm is exciting and so inspirational.  I, for one, just wanted to rush home and paint after her talk. We will be showing her photos again at the evening meeting in June, this time giving your observations and comments.

We would like to congratulate our blog coordinator Fiona Nichols on the first prize she won at the recently held SASA drawing competition.  Her drawing below is beautiful – well done Fiona.

BREAKING NEWS

We have the opportunity of renting a small shop in Fish Hoek Main Road from 26 to the 29 March.

If you are interested in hanging any of your work at an ad hoc exhibition at those premises please contact either Cindy or myself. Consideration will be given to the first ten members contacting the Society subject to us confirming the event. The usual hanging fees and conditions will apply.

YOUR SUBS WERE DUE BY THE END OF JANUARY -But we will give you another month’s grace
